PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO Tyler Brown had a birthday last week, then announced he was racing for the CanWest Raise a Reader Charity, and on Saturday night, became the youngest driver ever to ‘officially’ start an Ontario Pro Challenge Series race.

“I have waited a long time for this day,” Brown said. “Our Assante Dodge is ready to compete, and now I can officially start my season.”

Brown was welcomed by all the regular series drivers at the drivers meeting, and he handed out M&M’s to all the other series drivers to officially kick off his rookie campaign.

Brown’s rookie orientation will last for three races, and then he will be able to take his regular spot in the field. “The way the series has welcomed the whole team and myself is just great,” Brown said. “The other teams and drivers have all offered their help, and I am really happy to be racing in this series.”

Brown had two ninth place finishes in the heat races, and moved up to an eighth place finish in the feature. “I will admit to being a little nervous here tonight,” Brown said. “But, as a team we did well tonight, and we’ll now look forward to taking our regular place in the line-up in a few races from now.
