The team crewing D. J. Kennington's Castrol-sponsored Dodge won the Pit Stop
Competition at Eau Claire Market in downtown Calgary today. When the
winning team's prizes were presented, however, courtesy of sponsors Super 8
and Snap-On Tools, Kennington's shirt was different from everyone else's in
the winning group.
The reason for the sartorial mismatch was that the regular pit crew for
Kennington's St. Thomas, Ontario-based Dodge was still in transit. The
jackman, tire carriers and tire changers who completed the stop in a
blisteringly-quick 10.22 seconds were actually borrowed from the #02 Power
Water team of Kennington's friendly rival Kerry Micks from Mount Albert,
Ontario.
Second-fastest among the teams participating was the #60 MOPAR Dodge outfit
of Ron Beauchamp from Windsor, Ontario which did their stop in 10.83
seconds. Mark Dilley's #9 Dodge crew was third.
TOMORROW the CASCAR teams get down to business with qualifying at 6pm and
the Twin Centennial 100s beginning at 7pm. Both the Alberta Centennial 100
and the Saskatchewan Centennial 100 are full-points races.
Spectator gates open at 5pm.
SATURDAY night, it¹s the MOPAR PARTS 300. Pitting the top CASCAR National
Super Series teams from Eastern Canada against the best of the Western
Series, the 300 will fall to the driver and crew who best combine speed,
strategy and racing luck.
SPECTATOR GATES open at 1pm for FanFest with an autograph session with all
the drivers late in the afternoon. The MOPAR Parts 300 goes green at 7pm
