‘OHSWEKEN SHOOTOUT ADDS ESS QUALIFIERS’

For Immediate Release – Ken Pelkie, Event Coordinator, Canadian Sprint Car Nationals

The “Ohsweken Shootout” scheduled to run Friday night, September 16th as a prelude to the Inaugural “Canadian Sprint Car Nationals” has completed three of the four scheduled qualifying rounds.

All qualifying events are being held at Ohsweken Speedway and consist of the 1st appearance during the 2005 season for each of the “Nationals” Affiliate Sanctioning Series. The first three finishers in each of the four qualifying events that are regular competitors of the evening’s host sanctioning bodies will gain the right to compete in the “Shootout”. The winner of the “Shootout” will pick up $500 U.S. for covering the 10 lap distance. Entry fee for the Nationals must be received prior to taking the green flag for the “Shootout.”

The Empire Super Sprints completed their event at Ohsweken June 24th and added the names of three “Shootout” qualifiers to represent them in the September 16th event. Dan Kaszubinski made a last lap pass on race long leader Alain Bergeron to take the win while John Karklin Jr. claimed the final ESS “Shootout” qualifying position with his third place finish.

They will join Patriot Sprint Group representatives Kyle Wilson, Chuck Hebing and George Suprick from the May 6th qualifier along with Southern Ontario Sprint qualifiers Glenn Styres, Adam West and John Riegling who transferred from the May 20th event.

With three-quarters of the field now set, we will have to wait until Friday, August 26th for the final three when the Michigan based Sprints On Dirt series invades the fast 3/8 mile clay oval.

Starting positions for the “Shootout” will be determined by draw. Order of the draw will be established between the winners of the four qualifiers prior to the race. In the event that one or more of the qualifiers are unable to attend, a replacement will be made by selecting the next highest finisher from the series qualifying race for that affiliate.
