SPRINT CAR KICKOFF TOMORROW

WINNIPEG (MB): Victory Lane Speedway will be holding a kick-off press conference for the inaugural Napa Auto Parts Mid-Canada Sprint Car Challenge tomorrow, in the parking lot of the Napa Store at 1717 Pembina at 3 pm.

“We are all incredibly excited and looking forward to Thursday,” says Guy Budel, Director of Race Operations. “These guys are going to hit speeds in excess of 120 mph!”

Thursday, July 14th marks the return of the mud slinging, 800 horsepower, winged sprint cars to Victory Lane Speedway and the excitement starts on Tuesday at the press conference. On hand will be several local sprint car drivers and their sprint cars. This is just the start of what will grow into an annual event at the speedway.

“Sprint car fans in Winnipeg have been waiting for an event like this,” says Budel. “We’ve even got a local sprint car fan, Greg Cybulski, helping out with the purse. He is offering up $250 dollars of his own money if a 360 sprint car can beat the bigger 410 sprint cars. Greg is just one of the many die-hard race fans we have in Winnipeg.”

The Inaugural Napa Auto Parts Mid-Canada Sprint Car Challenge will see the best sprint cars from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, North Dakota, and Minnesota take to the 4/10ths mile oval. As an added bonus, the first 1000 people who buy their tickets at TICKETMASTER will save $5 dollars, so get your tickets early and save.

Sprint cars are the fastest cars on dirt. Some of the biggest stars in NASCAR got their start racing sprint cars, including Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, and Kasey Kahne, just to name a few.

Victory Lane Speedway is Central Canada's largest high bank dirt oval facility, averaging between 80 and 100 competitors every race, with 70,000 people coming through the gates every season. VLS is fully licensed with full-service concessions. The inaugural Napa Auto Parts Mid-Canada Sprint Car Challenge on Thursday, July 14th, at 7:30.
