Thorold, Ontario … After a successful return last season, the Empire Super Sprints will be featured at Merrittville Speedway Saturday June 25th - a special presentation of David Chevrolet.

Prior to the only Sprint show of 2005 at Merrittville, the ESS will compete in a marathon Spectro Oils Canadian Invasion with a weekend at Granby, Drummondville and Cornwall preceding the Southern Ontario Shoot-out that begins at Ohsweken Speedway June 24th.

After Brockville’s event, Lance Yonge leads the Canadian Invasion and overall ESS Points with two victories to date. Veteran Ray Preston won the season opener, Canadian star Alain Bergeron has also scored a win while Dan Kaszubinski was the last winner at Utica-Rome.

Kaszubinski was the winner of last year’s Merrittville Empire Super Sprint Show and currently sits in 4th spot in current overall points. Leader Yonge, Jeff VanDusen, Jeff Cook and Don Sharp Jr sit in top 5 in points and will be among the field of the fan favorite alcohol belching speedsters.

In the Spectro Oil Canadian Invasion Point Standings after Brockville’s event, Billy White, Kyle Wilson, Bobby Podolak and Bergeron sit behind Yonge as the top 5.

With 4 Canadian events scheduled before the trip to Merrittville – both Point Races could have a different look though as the season heats up.

Since 1985, the ESS have provided some of the most exciting racing on the challenging d-shaped Thorold oval in front of some of the most enthusiastic fans on the circuit.

David Chevrolet has been providing the Speedway with Official Pace Vehicles for a number of years and 2005’s edition is a real attention getter. The red 2005 Colorado Pickup is one of the sharpest looking of any race track.

Located at 915 Niagara Street in Welland, David Chevrolet invites all race fans and teams to their dealership to view their new and used Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Corvette and Chevy Truck lines.
