BEAUCHAMP CLAIMS ANOTHER TOP TEN FINSIH

By JAJ Entertainment

June 20, 2005. Round number three of the CASCAR Super Series had the Mopar Parts team turning both left and right on the historic road course and Mosport International Raceway. Sporting the Exide logo on the hood for this weekend's event Ron Beauchamp Jr. and the entire team felt confident after podium finishes in both of the first two races of the season.

Beauchamp qualified the car in the sixth position and the race strategy was to settle in and see how the race circumstances developed to determine their pit stop strategy.

An early full course caution had the team hitting pit road for two left side tires and fuel that could take them through tot he end of the race. This early stop would hopefully leave them with good track position as pit stops cycled through. The plan seemed to be working pretty well until a problem shifting into third gear developed. "I was struggling with it for most of the race" said the driver. "I had to double clutch to use third and that was allowing guys to get a run on me.”

Beauchamp would work the car as aggressively as he dared without abusing the equipment thinking of the bigger picture. Even with the difficulty using third gear Beauchamp still managed to come home with a seventh place finish. "Last year we would have thought seventh, great. But his year out expectations are higher, we'll take the seventh and be ready for the next event at Barrie expecting to be back on the podium.”

Teams will enjoy a weekend off before resuming competition at Barrie Speedway on the Canada Day weekend. CASAR Super Series teams will hit the track on Sunday after a full weekend of activities.

The CASCAR Super Series is the only National Stock Car Racing series with events scheduled this year at famed oval tracks including Delaware Speedway & Cayuga Speedway along with road courses and temporary street circuits like the Toronto Indy.
