Sunoco's Team Ultra 94 takes two wins in first Bridgestone Academy weekend: Pritiko wins round two, Di Leo takes round three

MOSPORT, ONTARIO - Sunoco's team Ultra 94 drivers Matt Pritiko and Marco Di Leo got off to a fantastic start in the opening three rounds of the Bridgestone Academy's F2000 Series. "We know the reputation this team has," Pritiko said. "And now it is up to Marco and me to uphold the honour of this team for Sunoco and Ron Fellows."

The team did just that, despite a bit of a shaky start. In round 1, Pritiko qualified second, but he was nearly a second off the pace of the polesitter. Di Leo was marred back in fourth, and not looking to positive about his chances to move up. "We have some drops," Di Leo said. "I was hoping not to use one in the first race, but we'll see how it goes."

Pritiko held second for the entire race, while Di Leo came home fourth. In the second race, things turned around for the team. "Both drivers looked much more comfortable in the second race," said Ultra 94 driver coach Lee Bentham. "They were a little more relaxed, and both drove very well."

Di Leo took the pole for round two, with Pritiko right behind him. In the race, the two motored off into the distance, but Di Leo was encountering shifting problems, and he missed a gear, and Pritiko was through into the lead. The order stayed that way, giving the team a one-two finish.

For the final round of the weekend on Saturday, Di Leo once again took the pole, but he was not going to be denied in this race. He drove a mistake free race to take the win over his teammate. "After the first race, I was a little worried," Di Leo said. "But overall it was a good weekend for Matt and me."

Pritiko was happy to leave Mosport with the points lead. "It was a good weekend," Pritiko said. "I just tried to get the best results possible, and put myself in a position to win this championship."

Bentham was happy with the team's progress. "It is great to work with young guys like these. Both of them are talented, and they both listen well to what we are telling them. I think they got better all weekend long. It should be an exciting second round in a few weeks."
