OSCAAR LOSES A DEAR FRIEND: Chris Dawson

From OSCAAR:

We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Chris Dawson. Chris, a loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Sunday August 14th while in hospital.

Known by everyone as the “Voice of OSCAAR”, Chris possessed a natural talent behind the microphone. Being at the racetrack was like being at home for Chris Dawson, as he was most at ease when he was in front of an audience, calling a race.

Full of pride and passion for super late model racing, Chris could entertain and inform his audience like no other. He made announcing seem effortless, while bringing life and excitement to each and every OSCAAR event. With a unique style and flare all his own, Chris created nicknames for some of OSCAAR’s favourites that will always be remembered. Rob Clarke became known as “Magic Shoes”, and Mike Bricknell was “The Nuclear Banana”, while Stu Robinson Jr. was named “White Lightning”.

OSCAAR has lost a truly talented announcer and a genuine friend. Chris was a welcome face in the OSCAAR pits as he continually showed a true and sincere concern for everyone involved in the series. Chris’s commitment and dedication to OSCAAR will always be remembered. Racing was his life and Outlaw Super Late Models were his greatest passion!

OSCAAR is very proud and fortunate to have had Chris Dawson as the “Voice of OSCAAR”. We shall remember him fondly, and all who knew him will truly miss him.

Everyone in OSCAAR wishes to express our most sincere sympathies to Kathy, Chris’s wife and the entire Dawson family.

Funeral arrangements have not been finalized. We will advise at a later date.
