(June 4, 2011) - It was a record-setting day for Loudoun athletes at the AA and AAA state track and field meets as Stone Bridge High School's Haley Springman captured the AAA discus title with a school-record throw of 135-2 and the Loudoun County High School boys 4x800 relay team shattered the school and state record by winning a state title with a 7:47.65.

Girls Basketball: Stone Bridge Hires Stuart's Gaffney to Take Reigns of Program
(June 2, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School has hired J.E.B. Stuart's girls varsity coach Thomas Gaffney to take the reigns of the Bulldogs program which went 23-4 last season under Chris Jones, who stepped down after the season. Gaffney, previously an assistant coach at Fairfax High School for three years, went 0-23 in his one year at Stuart.

(June 2, 2011) - Broad Run High School has hired boys junior varsity coach Chris Pasternak as the school's new girls basketball varsity coach.
In other hiring news, Loudoun Valley wrestling coach Troy Mezzatesta, will coach the Vikings golf team in the fall, taking over for long-time coach Gary McKay.

Football: Stone Bridge's Ben Branower to Play at Historic McDaniel College

Girls Soccer: Stone Bridge's Emily Fredrikson and Julia Harmison Hold College Signing Ceremony
(Mar. 2, 2011) - The defending AAA state champion Stone Bridge High School girls soccer team celebrated two seniors heading to the college ranks next year as Emily Fredrikson and Julia Harmison held signing ceremonies Tuesday. Fredrikson, a key defender for the Bulldogs, will play next year at William and Mary and Harmison, the Bulldogs starting keeper, will play at Carnegie Mellon.

(Feb. 25, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School junior Kayla Sleece, who was a Northern Region first team midfielder as a sophomore, has made an early commitment to play lacrosse at the University of Louisville starting in 2012-13.

Football: Stone Bridge Quarterback Brian Rody Accpets Preferred Walk-on Status at Virginia Tech
Ashburn (Feb. 25, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School football coach Mickey Thompson said today that senior quarterback Brian Rody has accepted preferred walk-on status next year at Virginia Tech.
Rody told Hokiehaven.com that he was "just happy to find a home for next year."

Ashburn (Feb. 24, 2011) - Stone Bridge's talented Class of 2011 has had two more college commitments this week as state discus champion Haley Springman will join the NCAA Division I Pitt track and field team and shortstop Ty Lighton will play baseball for NAIA University of Virginia at Wise.

Gymnastics: Freedom's Kaylee Annello Takes 6th in the All-Around at AA State Meet
(Feb. 23, 2011) - Freedom High School's Kaylee Annello took sixth in the All-Around at the AA state meet last weekend in Virginia Beach with a 37.000 score that included sixth place finishes on both the beam and floor.
Annello scored 9.450 on the beam and 9.475 on the floor. The VHSL open state meet for individuals includes competitors from A, AA and AAA levels.

Ashburn (Feb. 22, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School senior Kyle Gouveia, an all-around leader for the Bulldogs back-to-back runs to the VHSL Division 5 state title game, has committed to play football next year at James Madison University.

Girls Basketball: Total Team Effort Earns Stone Bridge First Ever Liberty District Title
Reston (Feb. 19, 2011) - With their top player, sophomore Murielle Tiernan, in foul trouble most of the night, the Stone Bridge High School girls basketball team pulled together and beat perennial Liberty District power Madison, 45-41, at South Lakes High School for the Bulldogs first ever district title.

Boys Basketball: Stone Bridge Coach Sonny Green Steps Down After 7 Seasons
Ashburn (Feb. 16, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School boys basketball coach Sonny Green confirmed Wednesday night that he has informed the administration that he is stepping down after seven seasons with the Bulldogs.
Green took over for Mark Alexander, now the Loudoun County boys varsity coach, in 2004-05 after Alexander was called to Active Duty. In his first season, Green was named the Dulles
