News: Park View High School Honors Athletes to Play at College Level

Sterling (June 6, 2011) - Park High School held a ceremony last week to honor nine Patriots that will play at the college or postgraduate level next year.

Girls Basketball: Broad Run Hires JV Boys Coach Chris Pasternak as New Coach

(June 2, 2011) - Broad Run High School has hired boys junior varsity coach Chris Pasternak as the school's new girls basketball varsity coach.

In other hiring news, Loudoun Valley wrestling coach Troy Mezzatesta, will coach the Vikings golf team in the fall, taking over for long-time coach Gary McKay.

News: Briar Woods Hires P.E. Department Chair, Track Coach Duane Colebank as Assistant Athletic Director

Ashburn (Feb. 23, 2011) - Briar Woods High School has hired R. Duane Colebank, the school's physical education department's chair and track and field coach, as the new assistant athletic director.

Colebank, who has been at Briar Woods since the school opened in 2005, takes over for Elmer Fox who retired at the end of January.

Boys Basketball: Park View's Ryan McCarter Nets 1,000 Point, Leads Patriots into D3 Regionals

Sterling (Feb. 22, 2011) Park View High School’s dynamic junior guard, Ryan McCarter, scored his 1,000 point of his career last week in the Dulles District boys basketball semifinals against Potomac Falls. While McCarter and his Patriots fell in that contest, they advance to the Region II Division 3 quarterfinals as the No. 6 seed with a trip to Jefferson District tournament champion

(Feb. 18, 2011) - The Region II basketball tournament seedings are all but official and it is a major case of good news and bad news for Dulles District fans. The good news: 10 teams will advance. The bad news: six of those 10 teams will face each other in the regional quarterfinals, including four Division 4 girls team that comprise an entire side of their 8-team bracket.

Boys Basketball: Woodgrove's Gilson, Potomac Falls' Mihailovich Named Dulles Players of the Year; PFalls' Hawes and 'Grove's Douglas are Coaches of the Year

(Feb. 16, 2011) - Woodgrove High School junior Brad Gilson and Potomac Falls senior Lukas Mihailovich were selected as the Dulles District Division 3 and Division 4 Players of the Year in a vote of the district's boys basketball coaches.

Coach of the Year honors went to Jeff Hawes, who led Potomac Falls to another regular-season title,

Golf: Raiders Get Right to Work in Dulles Golf

It didn't take Loudoun County long to live up to its preseason billing as the prep golf team to beat in the Dulles District as the defending district and Region II champs shot a blistering 292 to win the first district mini-tournament Tuesday by a whopping 28 strokes over runner-up Freedom.
