Baseball: Big 4th Inning, Complete Game from Clarke Advances Spartans to State Semfinals; Potomac Falls Falls at York

Ashburn (June 7, 2011) - The Broad Run High School baseball team defeated Jamestown in a VHSL AA state quarterfinal playoff game in Ashburn on Tuesday night to move within two games of the program's first state title in 20 years. Potomac Falls. looking for a third straight trip to the Final Four, fell at York, 9-7.

Baseball: Potomac Falls Junior Jackson Rogers Named Region II Player of the Year, Broad Run's Cassidy is Coach of the Year



(June 7, 2011) - Potomac Falls High School junior Jackson Rogers has been named the Region II Pitcher of the Year in a vote of the region's coaches and Broad Run skipper Pat Cassidy, who led his team to its first regional title since 1996, is the Coach of the Year.

News: Loudoun County Honors 13 to Play in College

Youth Sports: Baseball - 12U Potomac Riverdogs Capture Riverdog Rumble Tournament

(June 7, 2011) - The 12U Potomac Riverdogs baseball team went 6-0 in the Riverdog Rumble Tournament over Memorial Day weekend, outscoring opponents 39-13 and beating the SYA Mets to win the championship game. The team, coached by Dan Sullivan, is No. 1 in the standings in ODBL with a 10-2 record.

Baseball: Broad Run Rallies from 5-Run Deficit to Clinch State Bid, Hosts Potomac Falls Tonight at 6 p.m. in Region II Title Game

Ashburn (Jun3, 4, 2011) - The Broad Run High School baseball team rallied from a 6-1 deficit to defeat visiting Kettle Run High School, 11-7, to advance to the Region II championship today in at Broad Run at 6 p.m. By virtue of their victory the Spartans are assured of a place in the AA state tournament for the second time in the last four years.

Friday Playoff Schedule: Three Lax Teams Open State Tournament; Six Loudoun Teams Play for Region II Titles; 11 Total in Action!

College Signing: Two Stone Bridge Athletes Make Choices - State Discus Champ Springman to Pitt and Shortstop Lighton to Play at UVA-Wise

Ashburn (Feb. 24, 2011) - Stone Bridge's talented Class of 2011 has had two more college commitments this week as state discus champion Haley Springman will join the NCAA Division I Pitt track and field team and shortstop Ty Lighton will play baseball for NAIA University of Virginia at Wise.

Spring won district, regional and a AAA state title in 2010.
