Youth Sports: Boys Basketball - Flexx All Stars 4th Grade Goes Undefeated in Spring League

(June 7, 2011) - The Flexx All Stars, an Ashburn and Lansdowne based AAU basketball program, added a 4th grade team to their organization this year and the team finished the Triple Threat Spring League regular season undefeated with a 7-0 record.

Yes that was Gary Sousa way up high in the catwalk at VCU Wednesday taking photos of the Potomac Falls boys win over Christiansburg in the VHSL Division 4 state semifinals. No word on if Spiderman the Musical is considering hiring Sousa to shoot it retooled Broadway opening ... but they could be so lucky

Youth Sports - AAU Basketball Tryouts Scheduled

(Mar. 8, 2011) - AAU basketball tryouts are coming up around the county starting with the FLEXX All Stars program which will hold tryouts tonight, March 8, from 8 to 9:30 p.m. for 11U (5th grade) and 10U (4th grade) boys at the FLEXX Sports and Entertainment Center in Lansdowne.

A second tryout for 10U will be held Wed. March 9 from 5 to 6 p.m. and a second tryout for 11U will be held Thurs.

(Mar. 7, 2011) - Some teams have bandwagons ... the Loudoun County High School girls basketball team apparently has a Batts-mobile as the Raiders have zoomed into the VHSL Division 4 state semifinals on a 20-game winning streak steered by high-scoring senior Brittany Batts.

For the Potomac Falls High School boys basketball team this season hasn't been so much

(Mar. 6, 2011) - Gary Sousa was sure that the game-winning attempt would come on Tabb's end as they had the ball with 16 seconds left Saturday against Potomac Falls and the game tied. But the buzzer beater came on the Panther end as an errant pass was scooped up by Lukas Mihailovich and Sousa has the sequence captured here (click on any photo to view the full gallery!):

(Mar. 6, 2011) - Photographer Kristin Stubbs was on the right end of the court as time ticked down Saturday. With Tabb making an ill-advised pass back towards halfcourt, Potomac Falls High School senior Lukas Mihailovich raced after the loose ball, won a close battle, and then swooped in for a game-winning layin as time expired to give the Panthers a 46-44 VHSL Division 4 boys basketball state

Basketball: Buzzer Beater Sends Potomac Falls Boys to State Semifinals; Loudoun County Girls Cruise into Final Four

(Mar. 5, 2011) - Senior Lukas Mihailovich's steal and layin with less than two seconds left Saturday gave the Potomac Falls High School boys a dramatic, 46-44, come-from-behind win over Tabb in the VHSL Division 4 state quarterfinals at Robinson High School. The defending state champion Panthers trailed by 13 points in the second half before fighting back into the contest.

Basketball: Loudoun County Girls, Potomac Falls Boys One Game Away from Final Four

(Mar. 5, 2011) - The Loudoun County High School girls and Potomac Falls High School boys basketball teams will take to the court today in VHSL Division 4 state quarterfinal action at Robinson High School in Fairfax. The Raider girls play Eastern View at 2:30 p.m. and the Panther boys play Tabb at 4:30 p.m.

A win advances the teams to the Final Four next week at VCU's Siegel Center in Richmond.

Boys Basketball: Middleburg Academy to Host First State Tournament Game in School History



(Mar. 1, 2011) - The Middleburg Academy boys basketball program will host its first ever state tournament game when the 24-4 Dragons take to the court on Wednesday, March 2nd at 6:30 p.m.

Middleburg, ranked No. 3 in the state, will play the winner of No. 6 Walsinham Academy (21-8) vs. No. 11 Islae of Wight Academy (20-8).

The winner of Wednesday's contest will advance to the Virginia

Boys Basketball: Potomac Falls' Mihailovich Named Region II D4 Player of the Year, Hawes is Coach of the Year
