SOS AT OHSWEKEN: Styres again

STYRES AND MALLORY HOT WHILE, BACHER AND EMBERSON ALSO PICK UP WINS

OHSWEKEN, ON - The two hottest drivers this season at the 'Big O' have to be Glenn Styres and Jay Mallory. Styres picked up his second SOS win in a row at Ohsweken on Friday night while Jay Mallory kept the perfect streak alive with a late race pass on Dereck Lemyre.

A full field of SOS sprint cars took to the track on a night that saw many clouds but very few rain drops. Glenn Styres had the hot ride on the night as he finished second in his heat and then went on to win the dash and the feature over point leader Adam West. Mark Schulz, Fred Cade and John Watson rounded out the top five.

In the Sportsman division it was a shootout from start to finish. Dereck Lemyre in the 56 grabbed the early lead and would command the race until three laps to go. Lemyre, Jay Mallory and Rob Ledingham staged a wild duel over the closing laps. Mallory and Ledingham slipped by Lemyre for the top two spots while Bill Willard and Mark Dixon filled out the top five positions.

Jason Fontaine lead the way early on in the Street Stock feature but the big story was a flat tire on the A.J. Lewis ride. Last weeks winner, Lewis, would end up getting caught a lap down in the pits and would never recover.

Brad Bacher led the majority of the race with Jason Fontaine, Jeff Burke, Michelle Par and Amanda Stoner making up the top five.

The Mini Stock feature was wild and filled with accidents. Four laps in to the event a 7 car pile up took place in corner two. Among those involved were last weeks winner and point leader Lee Winger. On lap 7 John Held spun in turn two and was hit hard by Dan Erskine. Both were uninjured in the hard impact. In the end Rick Emberson held off Mike Evers for the win. The rest of the top five included Ryan Dinning, Mike Giberson and David Goodacre.

Up next at the Ohsweken Speedway, Mike's Driving Range Presents the Outlaw Thunder Cars plus a regular night of action. Race time is 7:45pm sharp!
