LONDON, ON (May 22, 2005) – Tara MacLeod, driver of the Central Merchant Services Ford and PowerwWater Rookie of the Year contender in the CASCAR Super Series, finished her first Super Series race a respectable 18th in Sunday’s Mopar 250 at Delaware Speedway in London, Ontario.
MacLeod started the race 27th in the 30-car field and paced herself during the entire race with the CASCAR Super Series veterans.
“This was the first time I have ever time trialed for a starting position in a race and I think we did okay,” explained Tara MacLeod. “We are going to try and do better each race. Micks Motorsport had our Central Merchant Services Ford running great and I just need to work on my confidence and we’ll get better.”
“I got clipped coming in on our first pit stop and figured we got the first crack in the fender so let’s go racing,” smiled a happy MacLeod. “I feel great and I tried to stay clean all day and it worked. The Central Merchant Services crew did a great job in the pits and everyone worked hard.”
Ron Beauchamp Jr. won the MOPAR 250 CASCAR Super Series followed by Dave Whitlock in second and Mark Dilley in third.
“I was a little nervous starting the race, after the entire field was full of CASCAR Super Series veterans and champions,” she added. “Things will get better from here. We got the first race under our belt and I can’t wait for the next race.”
The next event on the CASCAR Super Series is scheduled for Autodrome St. Eustache June 4 in St. Eustache, Quebec.
