SHEDIAC, NB - This Sunday at 2, Shediac's Centre for Speed will feature a full card of season opening racing to tickle any race fans fancy but the bigger picture is the kick off the speedways 10th anniversary season of racing in Shediac.
A variety of special events are planned throughout the season including several big race event weekends plus special events such as "Roll Over Competitions", "Outhouse Races", "Chain Races", Garbage Truck Races, Show and Shine, a "Speedway Idol", Faster Pastor Race, and much more. Other enhancements plannned throughout the season include a new speedway mascot named "WingNut", a Fan Windbreak and new dust control system to improve fan comfort in all types of weather.
This weekend the speedway has invited several past champions from various divisions to be in attendance for a special ceremony to commemorate the 10th anniversary of racing in Shediac. Fans will be given an opportunity to receive autographs from past and present drivers and children may begin to sign-up for the speedways new Jr Speedsters Club which will feature season long benefits like a chance to drive with their favorite driver, go kart rides, special T-Shirt and more.
In addition, the Family Pass will remain at just $29 for the event, including 4 Pepsi and 4 Fries. Among other events on the day, special guest performers will sing the national anthem and perform the invocation ceremony.
