NCATS: Roller Coaster Year For Team Mopar

The Mopar Parts Dodge team embraced the excitement of a new era as the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series began competition in May at Cayuga Speedway.  2007 would prove to be a season with several highs a few too many lows in the middle, but more excitement at the end.

Team Mopar hard worked hard in the off season leading up to the start of competition in May of 2007 and felt they were ready to begin this exciting new series.  We got our cars together and had some pretty good test sessions and we were excited to get started said driver Ron Beauchamp Jr.

The team just missed the top ten in race number one, but when Beauchamp scored a podium finish at the challenging road course at Mosport and followed it up with a top-ten run at Barrie Speedway the team felt as if they were on their way.  Everything was going pretty well said the Mopar Parts Dodge driver.  For some reason that I cant explain things went downhill when we headed west.

Team Mopar would endure a terrible string of bad racing luck through the middle part of the season.  Fluky mechanical troubles, contact from other competitors, you name it and it pretty much happened at some point during the summer.  Without a doubt this was the toughest year Ive ever had racing said the driver.  We double and triple checked things, it just didnt seem to matter, trouble found us no matter how hard we tried to stay out of the way.

In the late stages of the season when most would be frustrated by a lack of success, Team Mopar dug in even harder.  The team first had to make their goals simple, finish the races without mechanical difficulty and the rest would follow.  As the team returned to Barrie for the second time, they accomplished the first goal and finished the race running.

As the final event of the season arrived, everyone knew theyd moved in the right direction.  Beauchamp qualified the Mopar Parts Dodge eighth and ran a strong 250 laps up near the front all day and claimed a podium finish to round out the season.  What a huge boost for everybody to have our season end like that said Ron Jr.  For Mopar, Exide and Mobil 1, who have been so great and stuck with us.  I know a lot of other guys helped, but for us to have this podium finish at the Dodge Charger 250 to help Dodge clinch the manufacturers cup makes us happy as well.

Fall has barely arrived but work is already underway at Beauchamp Motorsports as Team Mopar prepares for the 2008 season.  Were going to take that momentum from the end of the season and carry it right through until next year said a confident Beauchamp Jr.  I know were going to be on our game right from the start.

The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season consisted of twelve races conducted on ovals tracks, permanent road courses and temporary street circuits throughout Canada.  All races were broadcast on TSN.  For the complete schedule, results and other information log onto www.nascar.ca
