GT Racing wins final race and Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship

St-Eustache (October 5, 2007)-- The GT Racing Team capped off a successful 2007 racing season by winning the last round, and the championship. In winning the final round of the season last Sunday, Charles-André Bilodeau captured his sixth race win, and became the Canadian Touring Champion. Team mate Borgeat secured a third place overall.

The pair finished respectively fifth and tenth in the first race of the weekend (Saturday). Sunday, Charles-André Bilodeau took the lead late in the race and pushed all the way to the finish, scoring his sixth win and tenth podium of the season.

Unfortunately, one bad race can cost you and that’s exactly what happened to Borgeat in the last round. Second in points, he only had to score a minimum of points to remain in position, but got pushed out by a fellow competitor on the first lap of the race. The following contender scored enough points and grabbed the second spot to Étienne. “I wish I could have finished behind Charles-André, but we showed everyone that we were very fast by winning eight races. 50% of all races!. ”said Étienne Borgeat. “We had a great year and winning the championship at Mosport is a great accomplishment for GT Racing.”

In 16 rounds, GT Racing won 8 races and finished more than 17 times on the podium. An unbelievable performance from the St-Eustache (Québec) based team.

“What a year for the GT Racing Team,” exclaimed team co-owner, Charles-André Bilodeau. “The whole team worked so hard throughout the year and they deserve to win a championship. Winning the championship is an end to an excellent season and I want to thank Éric Côté, the entire team staff and our sponsors for the effort they put into our program. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be celebrating like this.”

“It was a great year,” commented team manager, Éric Côté. “We met and exceeded the team goals that we had set at the beginning of the year and it was all because of the hard work and determination of everyone involved with the team; drivers, crew and sponsors. I would like to congratulate Charles-André and Étienne on their seasons. I would also like to thank John Bondar and his team who made this season possible.”

“Of course we will be back to defend our title in 2008, but look out for a big announcement shortly,” concluded Charles-André.

The team would like to thank Ultramar, idCAD, Pavnat, Motul, Sequoia Travel, Provan, SKF and Base.
