Pierre Bourque Has a Full Weekend of Racing

CONCORD, NC (September 25, 2007) - Summer vacation is over, school is back in session and Pierre Bourque has been very busy on racetracks throughout North America lately.
On Friday, Bourque attempted to make his debut for STI Motorsports in the NASCAR Busch East Series race at Dover International Speedway (DE). Without the benefit of a provisional and cursed by a bad qualifying draw, Bourque was among the group of drivers who did not qualify for the race.

The Dover effort was backed by Impremedia, America's largest Spanish language media company, and Full Metal Minerals, one of Canada's more progressive junior gold mining companies.

"Things didn't work out as we would have hoped at Dover," said Bourque. "But there were still some positives to the weekend. It is great is to see Impremedia involved in NASCAR, something that a lot of people in the sport took notice of. I'm thrilled by their support of my racing activities, along with all of my loyal sponsors. I was impressed with Glen Rudolph's STI Motorsports crew and although things didn't go as planned at Dover, I really enjoyed working with them."

Undeterred, Bourque headed back North of the Border to compete in Saturday's NASCAR Canadian Tire event at Kawartha Speedway (Ontario). A spring problem in practice left Bourque with a 22nd-place qualifying effort. At the start of the race though, he started passing cars left and right. Before long, Bourque was moving towards the lead pack.

His bad luck would continue though when the air jack broke during a pit stop and Bourque lost two laps. The final result for the Driving.Ca / Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame / Whitlock Motorsports Dodge Charger was 15th.

Bourque is now back in the United States, testing with Andy Hillenburg's Fast Track Racing Team at Talladega Superspeedway for next month's ARCA RE/MAX Series event there.

Bourque is splitting his time between the Whitlock Motorsports NASCAR Canadian Tire Series entry and Kevin Buckler's The Racers Group team in Grand-Am road racing. He also made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut last month at Indianapolis' O'Reilly Raceway Park and will be making additional announcements on his future racing plans very shortly.
