OSCAAR: Mark Gordon All Set To Make OSCAAR Debut At Flamboro Speedway!

OSCAAR is pleased to announce that Mark Gordon will make his OSCAAR debut at Flamboro Speedway, September 29th, 2007. This will bring to reality a long-time dream to compete with some of the best stock car drivers in Ontario while strapped in the seat of an ultra-fast Super Late Model.

"I was alway impressed with the sound and speed of the Super Lates" said Gordon, "I knew if the opportunity ever came up that it would be hard to pass it by."

The opportunity arrived recently and owes a great deal to Rob James of FOX Racing Canada. With the race season at Mosport Speedway finished for the year, Gordon was thinking about putting together a Late Model to race at Peterborough Speedway's Autumn Colours Classic.

Rob James suggested he consider racing a Super Late Model and it quickly evolved from there. James recently supported Phil Bullen and the #67 Outlaw in a successful 2006 campaign that ended with 4th place overall.

For 2007 Bullen stepped back from OSCAAR racing to help his kids start their racing career in the JCAR Racing Series. The intent is to continue the family program and that left the #67 Outlaw available for outside consideration.

Rob James will be the new car owner with his company FOX Racing Canada being the primary sponsor. Mark Gordon sold his Championship Limited Late Model without any difficulty and has signed up as the driver for the remaining OSCAAR races in 2007 and the potential for a full season in 2008. The car number will be #52 which has been Gordon's number for many years.

In OSCAAR, the #52 was for many years a part of the Passer stable of cars. But in 2007 Gary Passer changed from #52 to #16P which fortunately left #52 available for Gordon.

Mark Gordon has raced for 11 years with the first 4 years being in Challengers at Sunset Speedway. Since then it has always been either Challengers or Limited Late Models and mostly at Mosport and Kawartha. His on track performance has been nothing short of dominant with 21 wins in one season and five championships. Gordon was Limited Late Model Champion at both Mosport and Kawartha for 2004 and 2005 and Champion at Mosport for 2006.

"I am being realistic about expectations in starting out with my first OSCAAR race," said Gordon "I want to get some laps in and stay out of trouble. I know Derrick and the #7 crew well and their experience has encouraged me to give OSCAAR a try. It will be great to race with drivers I have watched and admired: Rob Clarke, John Fletcher and Jeff Hanley. We're all excited about this opportunity."

Gordon is thankful to see many of his crew moving up with him to OSCAAR: Mike Pariseau, Joe Williams, William Pickford, Larry Ellis, Jeff Leonard and Todd Manning. Along with the new support from FOX Racing Canada, Gordon also appreciates the continued support of his sponsors: APX Racewear, Aurora Automotive, JR Performance and Beswick Custom Homes.
OSCAAR welcomes Mark Gordon and Team #52 into the Outlaw Super Late Model family and wishes them the very best in their first race at Flamboro Speedway, September 29/30, 2007!
