NCATS: Top-five finish for Micks at Cayuga NASCAR event

Micks rallies from early incident to take fourth in race: now second in standings

NELLES CORNERS, ONTARIO (September 1, 2007) – Kerry Micks finished fourth in Saturday’s Subway 200 at Cayuga Speedway in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, despite an early race incident putting him a lap down early in the race.

The finish was the fourth consecutive top-five finish for Micks and his Beyond Digital Imaging sponsored Ford stock car.

Micks was involved in a multi-car incident early in the 200-lap race that put the team a lap down.

“That got me down and honestly I was ready to give up”, said Micks. “We pitted at lap 90 for fresh tires, which helped us go through the field, which got us our lap back, but it wore out the car out in the process.”

Micks fought back all night, regained his lead lap status for an impressive top-five finish vaulting him into second position in the Top 10 Driver Points with three races to go in the 12-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.

“I’m pleased with our finish, the team did a great job keeping me in contention for the top-five finish which moved us into second position in the points,” added Micks.

Derek Lynch took advantage of the last lap crash for the win, followed by Andrew Ranger in second, D.J. Kennington in third and Kerry Micks in fourth in the race that 14 lead changes between 10 drivers and 6 cautions for 40 laps.

The next event for Micks Motorsports will be race ten in the 12-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series at Barrie Speedway in Barrie, Ontario on the third-mile tri-oval on September 8-9.
