Stock car racer Paul DeGoey of Leamington continues to make tremendous strides in his recovery from Saturday’s terrifying crash at South Buxton Raceway. DeGoey may be released from London’s Victoria Hospital later Thursday or sometime Friday, his father John DeGoey said late Thursday morning.
John said that Paul “is in great spirits” and added that his son is “already talking about building a new race car!” But, John said that Paul still has a long road to recovery from his multiple injuries incurred in the crash. DeGoey’s car was sent airborne and rolled several times in a two-car collision early in his Modified heat race on Saturday, Aug. 30. He was transferred to Chatham hospital and immediately air-lifted to London. He was moved out of intensive care late Sunday.
Fans in attendance this Saturday at South Buxton Raceway are invited to sign a giant ‘Get Well’ card for DeGoey, which will be on display at the Outhouse Image & Design souvenir trailer. Despite his accident, DeGoey still won the 2008 Schinkels Gourmet Meats Modified points championship.
