CASTROL CANADIAN TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND SIX AT MOSPORT THIS WEEKEND (SEPTEMBER 1, 2)

The Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship Presented By Toyo Tires gears up for the challenging high speed turns of Mosport. There will be new drivers joining the Championship this weekend and promise to put on an amazing show. The drivers always enjoy the thrill that Mosport presents and look forward to battling for Class supremacy.

The Canadian Touring Car Championship is a sportscar racing Championship based on three distinct, yet synergistic classes of competition which are all on track at the same time and features Canada’s best drivers racing today’s hottest sportscars.

GT Class – These are the high horsepower thoroughbreds all motorsport enthusiasts dream of owning. The battle this year has been between the Corvettes, BMWs and turbo Nissan with top speeds over 250 km/h.

Super Touring Class – The largest class with some of today’s hottest brands, these are the cars many automotive enthusiasts with a taste for performance have in the driveway. Boasting over 250 horsepower for their relatively small motors, brands such as BMW, Acura, and Subaru create some memorable moments on the track.

Year-to-date Super Touring Class point standings; 1st Charles-Andre Bilodeau (BMW), 2nd Eric Leblanc (Subaru), 3rd Etienne Borgeat (BMW)

Touring – Created as an entry level class and highlighting some of the most popular and tunable cars on the street, the 150 – 200 horsepower Touring class enjoys door-to-door action and participation from brands including Mini, Honda, Mercedes Benz and Nissan.

The race weekends are all double headers with a race on Saturday and Sunday. There are eight race weekends and the Championship will visit Ontario tracks including Mosport (Oshawa area), Shannonville (Belleville, Kingston area), Calabogie (Ottawa area) and Toronto for the Steelback Grand Prix of Toronto.
