Thorn Appointed MLB’s Official Historian

John Thorn was appointed official historian of Major League Baseball.

Thorn wrote: "Treasures of the Hall of Fame" and worked on a book he planned to publish on 15 March entitled "Total Baseball." "Baseball in the Garden of Eden. The secret history of the game early"

He was a senior creative consultant for Ken Burns series "Baseball" TV.

Thorn appointment was announced Tuesday. He succeeds Jerome Holtzman, who was an official historian from 1999 until his death in 2008.
