KONI CHALLENGE: Predators fast at season finale

OTTAWA, ONTARIO - Predators Autosports has seen a huge improvement in performance and results in the second half of the 2008 Koni Challenge Series. Those results brought with it confidence, and that confidence was evident heading into the final six-hour finale at Virginia International Raceway last weekend.

Matt Pritiko was impressive in practice, and backed that up with a third place in qualifying. He also was the fastest Chevrolet Cobalt SS in the field.

"It was a good session," Pritiko said. "I didn't leave much out there, but I knew the race would be different. That being said, we had great pace, and being at the front should really help us in the race."

The best laid plans sometimes go wrong, and that was the case for Pritiko and the rest of the Predators Autosports team. On the first lap, Pritiko had contact with another driver and was called in for a penalty.

"The penalty wasn't the way I hoped the race would start, but with six hours, we should have been able to catch back up."

Sadly for the team, the Cobalt SS developed an air leak in the turbo hose which meant the team had to go behind the wall to make repairs.

"After the repairs, we were eight laps down," Pritiko said. "But even still we were able to make up three of those laps. If we hadn't had that problem, we could have challenged for the win."

Pritiko ended up driving for five hours of the six hour race, and now with the season over, he is looking forward to next year.

"First, I have to thank Steve Morris and all the Predators Autosports team for all their hard work. Also, thanks to Robert [Boyer], it was great to have him as a co-driver. I now look forward to next year."
