TORONTO, ON – April 28, 2008 – Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship officials announced today TOYO TIRES has extended its commitment as the presenting sponsor of the Championship.
“I am very pleased to announce the extension our TOYO partnership today,” said Touring Car President John Bondar. “As we continue to grow the Championship into the premiere racing series in the country, we are looking for partners that believe in our product and want to help us grow it. TOYO is one of those companies and we’re thrilled they are on board,” he added.
As an integral part of the sponsorship, Touring Car competitors will be using TOYO’s next generation of competition radial, the new TOYO PROXES R888, exclusively for the entire season.
The PROXES R888’s unique compound was designed using the latest TOYO RACING Technology that will enable racers to compete with maximum performance. It has improved cornering grip from its stiffer bead construction, and semi-slick shoulder area, as well as better braking response from its continuous centre contact.
It also has a durable, special tread rubber compound that maintains optimum temperatures for maximum handling capabilities, even during extended periods of competition. For the benefit of the competitors Toyo has set up a significant purchase discount and cash-back program for all competitors.
“TOYO’s affiliation with Canadian touring car racing goes back six years and over that time we have always been impressed with the continuous improvement in the caliber of both the competitors and the events themselves,” said Bruce Bridgman, National Manager, Marketing & Strategic Planning, Toyo Tire Canada Inc. He added, “At TOYO we are extremely excited to be part of this Championship and that the PROXES R888 has been selected for use by all competitors.”
