SRFKC: Vincec and Raimondo join Sunoco Team Ultra 94 for 2008

TORONTO, ONTARIO - Ron Fellows, founder of the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels (SFRKC) and Sunoco�s Team Ultra 94 made a major announcement on September 27th at the SRFKC Evaluation Day at Mosport Park.

�In the past 5 years, the Sunoco Team Ultra 94 drivers have been provided the opportunity to race in the Bridgestone Racing Academy�s F2000 Series,� Fellows said. �For 2008, we�ve decided to expand the exposure and experience of our Sunoco Team Ultra 94 drivers by having them participate in the Skip Barber Racing School�s Southern Race Series, which visits a variety of internationally-known race tracks including Road Atlanta, Sebring, Daytona, Homestead and Las Vegas.�

At the end of a long day of classroom and track sessions for eleven drivers that were selected from the 2007 SRFKC, Gianmarco Raimondo and Michael Vincec were declared the winners by the panel of judges that included past Sunoco Team Ultra 94 champions Daniel Morad and Marco Di Leo.

�Michael and Gianmarco did some outstanding driving in our highly competitive Evaluation Day and with difficult track conditions.�  �This is a tremendous opportunity being provided for them by Sunoco and I believe these two talented drivers will do us proud as our Sunoco Team Ultra 94 entry in the Skip Barber Racing School�s, Southern Series.� Fellows added.

Mike Vincec, who claimed three class championships in the SRFKC this year, was very excited about being chosen to drive for Sunoco�s Team Ultra 94. �It�s a great feeling,� Vincec said. �I�m glad it all came together today. It�s a great opportunity, and I am looking forward to the challenge.�

Gianmarco Raimondo was equally as excited about being selected. �I am very fortunate to have this opportunity,� Raimondo said. �Thanks to everyone that made this possible, and I am really looking forward to competing.�

The new challenge for the 2008 Sunoco Team Ultra 94 drivers met with approval of all concerned. �We are very excited about this development.  Our karting series has produced some truly outstanding racers and putting Sunoco�s Team Ultra 94 into the formidable Skip Barber Series will ensure continued success,� Terrianne Teigan, Director of Marketing for Suncor Energy Products said.

�Ron Fellows� is recognized as one of the world�s best international champion race car drivers,� said Paul Cooke, ASN Canada FIA�s Vice President of Competition. �His experience and success is an invaluable asset in helping Canadian drivers, including safety considerations. Gianmarco and Michael�s preparation for the Skip Barber series includes custom-fitting of personal safety equipment including state-of-the-art Stand 21 driver suits, Bell helmets, and HANS Device.  Ron is also assuring that Gianmarco and Michael are supported at race events. Ron or I will be at the races to provide support to the 2008 Sunoco Team Ultra94�.

Todd Snyder, Skip Barber�s Vice President of Competition expressed his excitement about the Sunoco Team Ultra 94 drivers joining the series. �We�re excited to have these two talented drivers joining our Southern Race Series,� Snyder said. �Skip Barber runs the largest open-wheel amateur championship series in North America, and each year drivers with career aspirations and those who simply enjoy great racing battle it out at America�s best racetracks. We welcome Gianmarco and Michael and wish them every success.�
